Dr. Lauren Renee Favreau

DAC, LAC, MSA, DIPL. AC (NCCAOM)

My Approach

In my realm of care, I specialize in providing Acupuncture & somatic therapies for Mental & Emotional Health, Chronic Pain, Digestive Issues, as well as Women’s Wellness needs at all stages of life.

Through weaving my extensive formal education in Traditional Chinese & Allopathic Medicine, cultivating self-discovery and sovereignty in clients’ lives are core intentions infused into my care. Collaborating will give you the opportunity to learn the language of your body and illuminate the messages stirring beneath the surface of your symptoms. I believe it is from this place of compassionate self-awareness of where your story has brought you that you can write a new one going forward where you are the protagonist.

In that story, may you return to yourself more vibrant, empowered, and embodied than ever before.

That is my wish for you.

Meet Your Guide

WELCOME

Hi there, my name is Lauren Renee Favreau. I am a Nationally Board-Certified Doctor of Acupuncture (DAC) and Rune’s Founder.

My passion is helping people reclaim a vibrant, harmonized state by reintegrating the psyche, body, and spirit. 𝐻𝑜𝑤 I do this is by guiding clients to reconnect to themselves through Acupuncture and related somatic therapies so they can become more embodied and, in turn, empowered with understanding the language of their bodies through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Providing the results clients want for their health is just as important as illuminating the “whys” behind what led them here - the messages and missed connections contained in their symptoms.

Rather than focusing on a diagnosis alone, I value investigating what’s stirring beneath the surface so we can address the root causes to your concerns, both seen & unseen.

It is from this place of clarity, and compassionate self-awareness of where your story has brought you that you can write a new one going forward, where you are the protagonist.

Most clients I see come to Rune looking for:

✦ relief from chronic pain & mystery ailments

✦ regulation for moods, energy & digestive issues

✦ rebalancing across the spectrum of women’s health

✦ resilience in the midst of life changes & challenges

✦ restoration from daily stressors

The list of specifics is long, but these are the themes that have emerged over the last seven years of honing my craft & offering this ancient healing art to clients all across Maine.

No matter the manifestation of disharmony, what I love most about my work is creating the space and personalized sessions for clients to 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒔: to feel at home in their bodies again and 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 before things like relentless stress, trauma, illness, or injury hid that from them ~ shades of the unknown, as I like to call them.

Here is a little more about me & that path that lead me here…

Why Acupuncture?

I was studying Political Science in college when I had my first Acupuncture treatment. Stressed and moody with severe migraines, my sense of well-being eroded to where I had to do something about it. When my mom asked if I wanted to give Acupuncture a try, I was highly skeptical. 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜 𝑤𝑎𝑦…I thought. 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑝𝑜𝑘𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑦 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝 𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑙 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟? Fast forward through a few months of sessions, not only did the migraines dwindle to a rarity, I felt like a different person. All facets of my health, especially my psyche, shifted in ways that led me to a leap of faith. I felt better to the point where my passion for holistic health, willpower, and restored zest for life inspired me to abandon the career path I paved and start over. I plunged. I spent my last year of college taking all the pre-med courses I could before beginning my graduate studies for Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

My Education

Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (BA) from Marist College (2014)

Master of Science in Acupuncture (MSA) from The Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (2017)

Doctorate of Acupuncture (DAC) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (2018)

...

My formal training began at The Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in upstate New York where, over the 3.5 years I spent there, I was immersed in 3,000+ hours of intense didactic and clinical training to earn my Master of Science in Acupuncture.

While learning the theories, applications, and a whole new language of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), my education required a strong foundation in Biomedicine. Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Neuroanatomy, Pharmacology, and Nutrition were just some required courses that instilled the ability to confidently assess a client's health status from an allopathic perspective. With clinical experience starting my first year, by the time I graduated, I completed rotations treating patients across several community and outpatient settings including a Veterans Medical Center.

After passing National Board Exams to become certified with the NCCAOM and Licensed in Maine, I went on to earn my Doctorate from the Pacific College of Health & Science in 2018. During that time, I focused my research on Acupuncture's applications for Psychology and Women’s Health plus had the incredible opportunity to observe at Boston IVF. I am so grateful for how that program enhanced my ability to integrate Eastern & Western medical lenses so I can support clients as comprehensively as I do today.
